Since the starting of Windows as an OS platform, the solitaire game has always been featured in all the versions of Windows including the earliest versions like windows 95. The game has always been introduced in different versions with enhanced layout and interface with the player’s target remaining the same. The latest offering by Microsoft Corp. in the line of Windows Operating Systems is Windows 7 which is an all advanced upgrade over the conventional Windows XP and thus, has come in wide usage in a short span of time but the upgrade doesn’t seem to have been advantageous for most of the solitaire game enthusiasts. For such users, a simple form of the classic game has been developed by the name of Solitaire XP v.1.0.
Solitaire XP by SOLITAIREXP is a freeware solitaire game developed specifically, keeping in mind the requirements of Windows 7 users. On the interface part, this one is just a remake of the solitaire game found in Windows XP for playing on windows 7. The Solitaire game of Windows 7 involves much more than just the cosmetic makeover of the classic game with some prominent defects being experienced by the hardcore solitaire enthusiast and this application is just an attempt in response to such requirements of the user. The cards in the Windows XP solitaire were easy to view but the same for Windows 7 game are a bit blurry which makes the gameplay a little uncomfortable. Apart from this, the handy feature of outline dragging and the utility of right click found in the Windows XP solitaire have been eliminated in the Windows 7 game.
To sum up, Solitaire XP v.1.0 is simply a remake of the Windows XP solitaire game and is a nice application for the users who have Windows 7 in their system but want the classic XP solitaire back. Hence, it receives a score of four and half rating points on the scale of five.
